BrownTown Recording is a professional audio production company owned and operated by Jim Barnes. Already with dozens of albums to his credit, Jim has quickly become one of Mississippi’s most sought after music producers. A music lover from childhood, Jim began playing drums early and performed with various bands during his youth. While earning a music degree on scholarship at the University of Southern Mississippi, he broadened his musical experience performing with The Pride of Mississippi Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, and Steel Drum Band. During this time, Jim also performed throughout the Southeast with the pop rock group EverythingSeven, honing his skills not only as a drummer, but as a songwriter and lead vocalist. It was while self-producing his band’s albums that he developed a passion for music production, and soon began recording projects for other artists.

Over the past few years, Jim has worked with many talented musicians, helping them make music that represents their unique vision. Currently, he stays busy recording, producing, and mixing projects for artists all over the Mississippi area and as far away as California and Kansas. He also  continues to be in demand as a live sound engineer and consultant as well, touring with both local and national  artists.
